NDIS and Aged Care

The Aged Care system will continue to be responsible for access to quality and affordable care and carer support services.

Those under 65 years old, living with disability can spend their NDIS funds with an aged care provider if appropriate.

A person can also choose to remain on the NDIS once they turn 65 years old if they have already been accessing the scheme.

Moving from NDIS to Aged Care

people can also transition from NDIS to Aged Care once they turn 65. Both services will support a person transitioning between the two systems.

A person will cease to be a participant of the NDIS if they enter a residential care service on a permanent basis or start to be provided with community care on a permanent basis and this first occurs after the person turns 65 years old.
