Carers provide unpaid ongoing care and support to family members and friends with:
- Disability
- Mental health challenges
- A chronic health condition
- Terminal illness
- An alcohol or other drug dependency
- Or who are frail aged
Caring may consist of any or all the following:
- Emotional support
- Providing meals/shopping
- Managing finances/administration
- Decision making
- Assisting with daily activities/transport
- Personal and medical care
Carers are NOT always “next of Kin”, and they may or may not live with the person they care for.
