Self-Care –
Encourage regular breaks and time for themselves. Prioritise sleep, exercise, and nutrition. Respite care may be an option to allow some temporary relief. Please see Module 4 for services the Carer Gateway can assist with for further information on respite.
Social Support – maintain connections with family, friends and support groups. Sharing feelings and concerns with others, especially those that are carers themselves. Please see Module 4 for services that Carers WA can assist with for further information on Carer social support groups.

Setting realistic goals and accepting limitations. Encourage the carer to ask for help and delegate tasks when feeling overwhelmed. Creating a prioritised schedule can help with the balance between the caring role and the carers personal life.

Regular Health Checks
Addressing any health concerns to prevent long term issues for both physical and mental health. Counselling may be something the carer would like to consider to help with maintaining their overall wellbeing. Maintain Hobbies and Interests
Continuing to engage in activities that bring the carer happiness, can provide an escape from caring responsibilities.
