NDIS and Aged Care

The Aged Care system will continue to be responsible for access to quality and affordable care and carer support services.

Those under 65 living with disability can spend their NDIS funds with an aged care provider if appropriate.

A participant can also choose to remain on the NDIS after 65 years old if they have already met access to the scheme.

Moving from NDIS to Aged Care

Where appropriate someone may transition from NDIS to Aged Care and both services will support a seamless approach to best transition the person between the two systems.

A person will cease to be a participant of the NDIS if the person enters a residential care service on a permanent basis or starts being provided with community care on a permanent basis and this first occurs after the person turns 65 years old.
